Panamp is an interesting audio player for you music library. They face some steep competition in that the music player from Apple does a pretty good job as it is and has the advantage of being native. However saying that Panamp offers some interesting features that make a refreshing change from the usual way of managing your music and playlists. This really is an essential app for anyone who enjoys music, SHOUTcast has over 32,000 stations hosted by people all over the world from bedrooms to studios covering every genre imaginable. One of our favourite apps of all time and it’s free! The only thing we think let’s it down is it stops playing after the iPhone/iPod locks itself so you have to disable auto lock while using it which also drains the battery. Hopefully this will be remedied in a future update. However we still love and give this app 5/5. Shazam Encore
Ever been out and heard a song and thought, ‘what’s that tune?’ yeah me too and all the time. Well Shazam Encore is the app for you, simply hold it up and it will quickly find and tell you what the song is that’s playing! It’s pretty amazing and surprisingly accurate, in our tests it got the song right 100% of the time even when we were trying to fool and it even managed to pick up the Eastenders intro on the TV from the opposite side of the room through people talking quite loud. Great app that let’s you tune into more than 30,000 radio stations from local to global covering all music genres including all the BBC channels. Clarity is fantastic even over a 3G connection. Bookmark favourites and record excerpts. It’s biggest flaw is the iPhones current lack of Multi Tasking, which should be remedied with iPhone OS 4 making this an essential app.
