Weddar

Ever said to yourself those weather folk are rubbish at predicting the weather? Think you can do better? With Weddar for iPhone now you can. Weddar offers an interesting twist on your usual weather app in that its powered purely by its users rather than machines. The social element is what makes it so interesting. People compete much like becoming a mayor of your favourite hang out spot on foursquare or gowalla etc. One reviewer said: I am coming for the top spot….. This is not weddar but.. WAR! … The biggest down side to Weddar in the UK is the current lack of users....

SongExporter Pro

We have all done it. Reformatted the computer without making a backup of our iTunes library file. Then the realisation dawns on you and you start searching the web for software that will extract your music from your iDevice back to your computer. There are tons of applications that promise to do this free and paid they are however for the most part very hit and miss which can be a frustrating experience. Enter SongExporter for iPhone/iPad and iPod Touches. The only thing SongExporter requires is that you have a wireless network at home. It works across all operating systems and is about as simple...

Grazing – Web Browser

Grazing is a new universal web browsing app for iPad and iPhone’s. I haven’t tested it on the iPad yet so this review will be focused on the iPhone v2 of Grazing. When I heard about grazing I was intrigued. You have to be confident in your product to go up against a native app such as Safari and most browsers I have tested have failed to live up to or provide a better experience than Safari for iPhone/iPad. Grazing is about the closest to a full web browser experience I have come across in any browser app to date. That in itself is quite...

Panamp – The Music Player

Panamp is an interesting audio player for you music library. They face some steep competition in that the music player from Apple does a pretty good job as it is and has the advantage of being native. However saying that Panamp offers some interesting features that make a refreshing change from the usual way of managing your music and playlists. One of the best features is the ability to create dynamic playlists or ‘Queues’ of tracks you choose with a swipe. This feels incredibly intuitive in use. A swipe in the opposite direction will find all songs by that artist, their tracks and related albums....

War Girmoire

War Girmoire is a tower defence game. The first thing you will notice when loading up War Girmoire for the first time is the level of detail and effort put into the sprites. It looks stunning. You start with an intro which can feel fairly long winded at points but helps you understand the mechanics behind the game and it can be quite technical so it’s worth paying attention. War Girmoire includes tons of options and abilities that go above and beyond your average TD game. For a start there are 60 types of weapons each of which can be upgraded in various ways depending...

Shine – Weather at a Glance

There are a lot of weather apps already on the appstore, so what’s different about shine, and why is it worth buying? Lets start with the User Interface. Shine is no doubt a beautiful app to look at. A lot of effort has been put into the UI and it shows. They haven’t just cracked the looks though, the whole interface is extremely simple and intuitive to use. At a glance you can view the current weather with an image that suggests what it may be like outside. A long with the current wind speed. Below this it shows a forecast for later in the...

Stratus: Cloud App

One of the problems I struggle with the most is getting information quickly from my Mac to my iPhone and vice-versa. I have tried a few solutions. but none are particularly eloquent or efficient when you just want to send a piece of copied text or a url. I also try to limit the amount of “crap” I have running on my Mac especially in the menu bar. But I do love & use http://getcloudapp.com for sharing stuff online and with colleagues so I was stoked to see a new iOS app called Stratus released. Not only is Stratus free it’s extremely well laid out....

intelliVocab

intelliVocab for SAT was built by MIT students using research released from rom MIT Computer Science and Web Semantics Lab. It’s purpose is to help you establish your vocabulary level and help you to improve it using the aforementioned research. intelliVocab may not be the best looking app but it’s free and it’s actually pretty good! When I received the submission to review intelliVocab I was honestly skeptical of how useful it could be. After loading the app a handful of times throughout the week I very surprised at the results and not only enjoyed testing my vocabulary but genuinely learned several new words and...
