Pizza Boy
Pizza Boy is an epic side scrolling 2d platformer released by Acne Play. The story line is fairly bizarre – An evil bird has stolen your pizza which you attempt to retrieve (while collecting strawberries?? a long the way). Beyond the story line the game design is absolutely stunning, the controls are near perfect and the game play is absolutely fantastic. As soon as the game loaded we were blown away at just how good the game looks and played and couldn’t put it down, that was until around an hour later and it was over leaving us craving for more! Pizza Boy contains all...
IceBird
IceBird is a twitter client that doesn’t try to pack every possible feature in, the Developer Fabian Kreiser decided to take a different approach and focus on usability and ease of use without sacrificing functionality and it shows. Everything you need is visible from the first screen and if there are updates such as new message or mentions a blue dot appears under the button to let you know. The whole app is beautifully designed and makes twittering while on the move so easy, every options, is available with minimal clicks. Notable Features: Cache tweets for offline reading. Ability to edit your twitter profile from...
ProCamera
Being a bit photographic obsessive means I have tested a lot of Camera Apps and can honestly say ProCamera is quickly becoming my go to camera of choice. It quite simply is the most advanced camera app available right now and it isn’t just a camera app but also a video recorder. ProCamera is well designed and packed with functionality. There’s a fine balance between usability and functionality and ProCamera does a pretty good job at both catering for your average point and shoot user who wants great photos with minimal effort and also offering an expert mode that when enabled offer a wealth of...
Splice
Splice is a new video editing app, hot on the heels of Apples very own iMovie and it certainly packs enough features to give Apple a run for there money. Competitively priced at $2.99/£1.79/€2,39 respectively and Published by Path 36 LLC. Splice is a photo and video editor with plenty of features. Upon opening the app you start by creating a new project and choosing the rotation preference, portrait or landscape. The interface is is very intuitive and well thought out, I was able to jump right in and figure out everything within a few minutes of tapping the available options. However if you select...
Earth Defender
Earth Defender is a screen tapping fest of the highest quality. You are tasked with the unenviable role of defending earth from hordes of aliens. You start of with a basic bombs which when timed right can create devastating and super satisfying chains. You can also pick up power-ups including electric shock and blackholes (my favourite) and a limited supply of nukes. The aliens are well varied, and of different types that require constant micro managing with a boss fight at the end of each of the 6 rounds. The graphics are beautiful, the game very well thought and extremely fun we found it very...
FruitSalad
FruitSalad is basically match 3 meets Slots. If you have ever played Fruit Machines then this app will certainly appeal to you. The aim is to match at least 3 of the same icons and rack up the highest payout before your time runs out. The design is clean however very basic with just a plain black background. Yet still surprisingly fun especially the Fruit Machine related bonuses you receive when you match 4 or more. From classic Nudges and Respins to Blends, Shuffle and more. A long with authentic sounds create a very satisfying overall experience. There is currently no Openfient or other gaming...
Private
Private creates a password protected area on your iPhone or iPod Touch that you can store information securely. There are several areas inside the application for storing various types of information and media including: Notes, Photos, Contacts & Web. If you have some confidential information or photos you want to keep private from prying eyes then this is an excellent and well thought out app. There is currently no way to export information out of the app which makes this a bit of a deal breaker in v1. However v1.3 is supposed to include export of photos. But it really needs to be able to...
R-Type
The original R-Type is back with a bang this time for iPhone and iPod Touch users. Electronic Arts are bringing back 80′s classic retro gaming with style. Anyone who played R-Type back in the day will remember how fun but also challenging R-Type was. The iPhone port is no different and stays as true to the classic as possible (without the physical d-pad). Controls are actually pretty decent, you can also choose a tilt control that uses the accelerometer and this also works suprisingly well. There isn’t a lot more that needs to be said about this game besides: Buy It! 5/5
