Hoopla
Ever fancied yourself as an air drummer? Well you’re in luck Hoopla has you covered! John the developer has been creating music apps for a while mostly catering to those with a bit of musical knowledge as the apps are quite technical. John decided to take Hoopla back to basics making hoopla a great and fun intro to the world of air drumming. Hoopla offers a host of cool sounds and effects that can be assigned to 3 different directions so that when you shake your iPhone either to the left right or forwards the chosen drum or sound effect plays. You can also play...
HulloMail
HulloMail brings visual voice mail to iPhone users on a huge range of carriers. And pretty much offers every voicemail solution you wish your iPhone could do out of the box. Supports most of the UK Networks except for Tesco but this isn’t Hullomails fault it’s down to Tesco blocking call forwarding on it’s network even though they piggy back on o2 who do offer call forwarding. HulloMail is free, and takes the hassle out of phoning your voicemail box to listen to new messages instead you can check them within the app and see exactly who has left messages for you. 5/5 An essential...
Qwiki
So I have had to travel quite a bit over the last few days, during downtime I have been playing with a new facts app called Qwiki. It simply takes your location and returns interesting facts about places near to you. Educational and fun at the same time, a few of the facts even peaked my interest enough to actually go and view the places my self. Qwiki offers an entertaining way to quickly discover interesting facts about anywhere you happen to be located be it your home town or the places you visit. If you find a specific fact interesting you can click the...
360 Panorama
I recently got my hands on another photography app by the team who made RedLaser and more recently ClearCam app. 360 Panorama is as the name suggests all about creating panoramas. I took the app for a spin and I’m really impressed in how accurate and fast the app is. You simply launch the app, frame the scene on the screen you want to start from and hit the start button. The way the image appears on screen as you scroll is incredibly smooth and compared to other Panorama apps I have tested the results are nothing short of remarkable. Even when I moved through...
ClearCam
ClearCam offers a really interesting concept for achieving super clear photos of up to 11MP. Lots of camera apps offer some kind of steady shot feature but ClearCam does it in a unique way. In Quick mode instead of the iPhone or iPod Touch waiting for the camera to be held still for a specific time ClearCam instead takes 6 photos in rapid succession, aligns and enhances then pops up the final image. In Enhanced mode you get more control, you can view each image manually before choosing to align and enhancing and when it’s finished you can compare the original to the enhanced photo....
Trainyard Express
We recently reviewed a seriously cool puzzle game called Trainyard. The developer Matt has just released a mini version completely FREE. Unlike other free demo apps, Trainyard express includes 60 levels and to be fair is a game all on it’s own packing in all the functionality of the paid version and some brand new levels. So if you all ready own Trainyard you will want to get this free version and if you don’t then you will want to buy the full version as this intensely satisfying puzzler will definitely get you hooked. Night Stand HD
I will probably get boo’d and hiss’d for this but I have a hard time trusting my iPhone and the various clock/alarm apps I have in waking me up. Having owned Nokias for years users will know the alarm just works. Even if you turned the phone off the alarm still worked. The same can’t be said for the iPhone and the various clock/alarm apps. I have tried many and only return to one that is Night Stand HD, so far it’s the most accurate and hasn’t yet let me down. It has the best looking interface without being a chore to navigate, multiple and...
Met Office
Met Office is an official government app for getting your weather forecast. It’s by no means the best looking weather app but it certainly offers a lot of features from forecast within a few hundred yards of your location to a 5 day forecast that can be broken down to every couple of hours and as the data comes straight from the met office it’s probably the most reliable weather app out there. Includes some gimmicky features such as Maps and Data that offer a TV Weather like map showing how the day will change across the country. Verdict: As I commute on a bike...
