Living Earth HD
Living Earth HD is an absolutely stunning app to use. It’s universal so one purchase will get you a copy for your iPhone and iPad. It has 3 main features: World Clock, Alarm and Weather. What set’s it apart from other Weather, Clock apps though is the “Living Earth”. When launching you are presented with a 3D rotating earth not only does this show global coverage but also accurately shows where in the world it’s night-time and daylight. You can also manually rotate the Earth around or select one of your pre defined locations to instantly go there and get access to the current Weather,...
oneSafe
oneSafe is a universal app for iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad etc. It promises to keep your private information safe using 256 bit AES encryption. oneSafe is competing in an already overcrowded niche app market against some real heavyweights such as 1Password/LastPass/SplashID and many others etc. When you first launch oneSafe you are offered to set up a pass code. I like how this is presented with various methods to choose from including a pin code to a unique swipe gesture. And if one method isn’t enough you can opt to have two login methods before anyone can get in. Where oneSafe differentiates itself from its main competition is...
Agenda Calendar
Agenda Calendar 2.0 has just been released and with it brings a universal iOS app compatible with both iPhone and iPad’s. Agenda is a beautifully hand crafted calendar app. The app focuses on keeping it simple whilst managing to execute the balance of form and function extremely well. If you just want a simple way to manage your events then Agenda has you covered. The layout is uncluttered and therefore really simple to follow. But if you need more advanced calendar management Agenda still has you covered with the ability to sync effortlessly with Google, Exchange and MobileMe calendars. One of the things I like...
SongExporter Pro
We have all done it. Reformatted the computer without making a backup of our iTunes library file. Then the realisation dawns on you and you start searching the web for software that will extract your music from your iDevice back to your computer. There are tons of applications that promise to do this free and paid they are however for the most part very hit and miss which can be a frustrating experience. Enter SongExporter for iPhone/iPad and iPod Touches. The only thing SongExporter requires is that you have a wireless network at home. It works across all operating systems and is about as simple...
Grazing – Web Browser
Grazing is a new universal web browsing app for iPad and iPhone’s. I haven’t tested it on the iPad yet so this review will be focused on the iPhone v2 of Grazing. When I heard about grazing I was intrigued. You have to be confident in your product to go up against a native app such as Safari and most browsers I have tested have failed to live up to or provide a better experience than Safari for iPhone/iPad. Grazing is about the closest to a full web browser experience I have come across in any browser app to date. That in itself is quite...
360 Browser
360 Browser is a universal iOS app for iPhone, iPod TOuch and iPad’s. I personally find safari on iPhone more than adequate for my browsing needs however 360 browser does offer a lot of additional useful features such as tabbed browsing, firefox sync, download manager, ad block and many others. The interface isn’t bad at all though it does have some quirks, and with the huge amount of additional features packed in the browser involves some what of a learning curve to get the most out of. Which is fine as this browser is clearly geared towards power users who want more than just basic...
World of Goo
The awesome World of Goo by indie developers 2D Boy is now available as a universal app for iPhone and iPads. World of Goo is no half assed PC Port either the game has been redesigned specifically for your iDevices, the touch controls are very intuitive and you could be forgiven for thinking this version actually came before the PC version as it plays so intuitively. There is also an iPhone only version which is slightly cheaper available either way this is up there with one of the games you simply MUST buy.
Springpad
Springpad is a web pp and iPhone app I have recently started using and it’s really growing on me. My most regularly used iPhone apps are ones that increase my productivity or work flow and springpad fits in really nicely. Allows for quick and easy saving of ideas and memos with an intuitive design. With the option to import Delicious bookmarks is a good enough reason on it’s own to download the app being there are not any decent delicious apps on iTunes and the recent controversy about Yahoo possibly shutting the service down!
